Johnson Park – July 2018
This was a lovely day albeit extremely hot.
We have performed at this event for several years and it is always very enjoyable for everyone involved. The weather was dry (unlike last year) so the challenge was trying to keep the gymnasts cool before performing. We had the airtrack ready for the tumblers, along with roll mats for the floor routines.
It was an opportunity for the gymnasts to show off their tumbling skills, with many at differing levels. They had no choice but to be fast down the track because the surface got so hot, but they all did superbly. On the floor we saw partnerships performing their routines which they have been working on all year and took to different competitions, along with partnerships created on the day, demonstrating how adaptable they all are.
This type of event is so important to the club, from the gymnasts being able to perform without the pressure of a competition to the stall we had with a tombola and many things for sale. The latter helping to raise valuable monies to afford the club, which is a voluntarily rub club, to ensure up to date as well as good standard of equipment along with courses for coaches to progress to higher levels and for the gymnasts who are participating in the BGA Young Leaders Awards.
Definitely a day for ice creams!!!!
