Sherborne Castle Country Fair – 28th May 2018
This provides an ideal opportunity for our gymnasts to show people what they have achieved and can do. It is a fun day, especially when it is dry, which thankfully it was! The gymnasts enjoy doing their Acro routines or tumbling performances to an audience without the pressure of a competition. It is all outside in the fresh air, so apart from lots of sun cream and the sun beating down on them, they always enjoy being outside in the fresh air.
It is also an opportunity for the gymnasts to go around the event and look at other performers, activities, cheer on the Dragon Boat racers or buy some food or enjoy an ice cream. It is very much a community day with parents attending if they wish and enjoying the day out.
Additionally it is an ideal opportunity for the club to invite children in the audience to come and have a go on the floor, doing some gymnastics moves or seeing what tumbles they can do on the air track, under the watchful eye of the coaches. It is always surprising how many children want to join in and have a go, along with what they will actually try. There are always a range of ages, along with very mixed abilities, but that is what our club is about – giving everyone a chance to have a go and enjoy gymnastics.
